By imposing an embargo on Iranian oil exports and freezing assets of its central bank, EU members hope to cut so deeply into government revenues Tehran will agree to accept international safeguards on its nuclear program.

How About That of the Day: This adorable 2-month-old tiger cub was discovered by security officials at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport hidden inside a suitcase full of stuffed toys. The luggage, which belonged to a 31-year-old Thai national on his way to Iran, was being scanned by an X-ray machine when airport staff noticed what appeared to be a live animal in a pile of plush dolls. The authorities were contacted and the apparent smuggling attempt was happily foiled. [cnn.]
